A horse named Matthew

The latest arrival at Hyde Park Stables

It was an honour yesterday to be told by Basia Briggs that the latest horse to arrive at her Hyde Park Stables has been named after me.

Matthew was the name chosen for a 17-hand bay as the stables have previously had horses named after the canonical gospels of Mark, Luke and John. “I thought it was about time we completed the quadrangle,” comments Basia.

In addition to owning the stables, Basia is well known for her charitable work for the Hyde Park Appeal whose patron is His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent KCVO and whose committee includes Richard Briggs OBE, Sir Christopher Thompson Bt and Lady Elizabeth Anson. The charity has achieved much since its inception in 1991 including the creation of the Dorchester Ride between Hyde Park Corner and Speakers Corner, the Liberty Drives Scheme and a children’s riding arena opposite Clarendon Gate.

Lessons at the stables start at £64 per hour with a course of ten beginning at £590. Hats and boots are provided free of charge.

What a lovely lady Basia looks. I am wholeheartedly impressed by her good deeds too. We need more people in the world like her.

I don't know Basia but she's most definitely a looker. If she were single, I'd ask her on a date. She's got one lucky husband.
